When is the best time to trim a magnolia bush.?

Saucer Magnolia, Lily Magnolia, The "Little Girls" (Ann, Betty, Jane, Judy, Pinkie, Randy, Ricki, %26amp; Susan) - Prune midsummer, when in full leaf. Avoid prunning in spring or early summer (now), when the wounds will bleed. Dormant pruning is not recommended since dieback often affects growth pruned at that time.

Chinese Magnolia, Oyama Magnolia, Wilson Magnolia - Only minimal prunning required.

Star Magnolia - Allow young plants to develope naturally, Prune as per Saucer Magnolia above, though plants are slow to recover from hard prunning.
