Sounds like a Loquat Tree, Eriobotrya japonica. The yellow balls are the fruit. They are very tasty, but they each have a single big seed which keeps them from having very much flesh to them.
Can anyone tell me the name of a tree that looks like a magnolia but has yellowish balls growing on it?
