What kind of root system does a magnolia tree have?

Shallow wider than other trees, root system.

i dunno, but i sure love those trees! i was thinking about buying one for my front yard!
Reply:Shallow and they sort of sit on the surface. I mean, they aren't like literally on top of the soil or anything but they go wide around the tree and stay close to the top. On an old tree they can start coming through the ground if you walk around the base a lot.
