Does anyone know if it is bad for the underside of magnolia leaves to turn brown this time of year?

If it is "Southern Magnolia" ; Magnolia grandiflora, I thought that it's leaves were always brown on the underside.

If it's "Chinese Magnolia"; Magnolia soulangeana, they should be dropping their leaves now.

No worries.

Some Magnolias do have brown on the under side of there leaves.

It is hard to answer your question as I don't know were you are from but if you are living were I am In Sydney,Australia(and summer) then the leaves should not be turning brow ht this time of year.
Reply:Depends what zone you at. It can be normal. A period of time is magnolia's resting time, at this time, it need to drop some leaves, so it can grow more better new leave on growing season.
