Magnolia or Dogwood Tree for Mother's Day?

My Mom loves plants and trees, so im planning on buying her a tree for Mother's Day tomorrow. Well, a few weeks ago she was talking about how she would love to have some Magnolia and Dogwood trees. I only am able to buy one tree for her for Mother's Day. And I was wondering which one I should buy..a Magnolia or Dogwood..cause she never really specified which one she would rather have. Opinions?

Magnolia or Dogwood Tree for Mother's Day?
As a person that has had both , I would reccomend the magnolia tree for beauty and maintenance, but, would first be inquiring of your mother as to how she likes lilac flowers. Dogwoods are brittle and don't flower or last long in comparison to their required maintenance and they are not attractive plants after they bloom. Magnolias are pretty in bloom, but they make a big mess after just a short flowering time. On the other hand, the Dark purple lilac flowers for a long time, has a strong and fantastic perfume that will blow you away and it lasts for weeks in bloom, plus makes great cuttings for fragrence in the house. The tree is low maintenance and pretty year round. I don't know your mom's age, but the lilac would definitely be the easiest to take care of also. BEAUTY%26lt; FRAGRENCE%26lt; MAINTENCE the other two don't compare
Reply:Magnolias are HUGE and MESSY. Make sure someone will scoop up the spent blossoms. Make sure your yard can handle a 50' tree. I love them, but don't want to deal with the mess, leaves, and smell.

Dogwoods are great, too. Smaller and more compact. Fewer, smaller leaves to rake, and I know of no special maintenance for them. My neighbor has 4 and does nothing to them. She planted them 15 years ago.
Reply:magnolia is a prettier tree and would last longer than a dogwoods only have a 10 year life span and have brittle branches and are maintenance nightmare. I got magnolia trees. they are beautiful!
Reply:Myself, I would prefer a magnolia. Neighbours have them and I find them beautiful. You can always get her one this year and the other one next year.
