Does anyone know how to get rid of flies and bees in a Magnolia tree?

Depends on what they're doing- if you have bees living in the tree, then contact your ag extension folks for a list of local beekeepers- one of them can probably remove the swarm from the tree for you, and would be happy to do so for free, given how much bees cost these days.


If you're upset about the bees feeding on flowers (though I didnt' think bees could feed from magnolias), then your solutions are either to cut off all the flowers, just cut the tree down, or get yourself one of the more exotic magnolia trees which has a longer flower stem (some of the Japanese varieties work)- Honeybees have short tongues and if they can't get at the flower, they'll leave the tree alone..

as long as you have a flowering plant, you need bees to pollinate the flowers. Flies are attracted to the sweet flowers. If you spray for flies, you will kill the 'good' bees. I f the bees are huge in number %26amp; are forming a hive, you need to call a bee keeper to come %26amp; get them. You'll find them in the yellow pages. Otherwise - cut down the tree!
