When should you prune a magnolia tree?

it's about 20 feet tall, and getting too big for the garden. we're in north london.

When should you prune a magnolia tree?
This should be done when the tree is in full leaf, usually during midsummer. Pruning cuts made at this time of the year will have plenty of time to begin healing before the onset of winter, and are less prone to dieback.
Reply:have never seen one pruned. you do need to wait until dormice time.
