How do you get Magnolia tree to put on new growth?

I have a very large Magnolia tree that someone cut all the lower limbs off of. What can I do to start new growth in the lower portion of the tree?

How do you get Magnolia tree to put on new growth?
why do you want limbs in lower part, easier to mow around it lower branches not there
Reply:if you want too get good growth, u will have too trim the top branches, but this is a tree so why have it grow like a bush, and u will not get any blooms in the summer time. i say leave it alone and trim the lower branches
Reply:Magnolia trees will not generally put out new growth from a pruned area. If you want the tree to have limbs to the ground, you'll have to let the limbs that remain to droop to the ground. You can train them by waiting until new growth has finished and trimming back the small twigs that are growing up or out.
